A Comprehensive Checklist for Summer Yard Prep

The fruits of your labour from Fall and Spring are in full bloom now. They will require constant watering and care to maximize their longevity.

Potted Plants
  • Keep moist. Be aware that depending on the temperatures and weather conditions you might need to water twice a day. Never water in the heat of the day.
  • Deadhead. Remove the heads of all dead flowers, leaving just the stalk to remain. This will conserve the plant's energy and it will produce more flowers.

  • Dead-head
  • Keep moist
  • Remove grass and weeds regularly

  • Mow regularly

  • Maintain water level
  • Remove algae

  • Annuals: cut back by half and they will re-flower 3 weeks later
  • Perennials: cut back by half after first flowers to prolong flowering
